Aegon Adviser Attitudes Report 2021

Majority of queries came from those aged 55 or older As well as ‘why’, we wanted to know ‘who’ was getting in touch with advisers. 40% of queries came from men aged 55 or older, and 24% came from women in the same age group, pointing again to a preponderance of those near or in retirement feeling the need to reassess their options in light of the pandemic. 36% of queries came from employed clients, and 30% were from retired clients. Only a small proportion came from those who’d been placed on furlough ( 6% ) or who were self-employed and temporarily out of work due to Coronavirus ( 3% ). Most queries came from wealthier clients, with 68% of queries from clients with assets of more than £100,000 and 33% from those with more than £250,000 in assets. This ties in with the average age of clients making queries, suggesting again that it was those close to or in retirement who were most worried about the effect of the pandemic on their wealth.
