This is something that we found with our own customers – particularly at the end of the first quarter and throughout the second quarter of 2020. The market shock saw sharp falls in all asset classes in March 2020, with equities falling by around 20% and UK equities, particularly hard hit, falling by more than 30% 1 . So, it’s hardly surprising that the most common reason for clients getting in touch with their advisers was to review investment performance. The second highest reason, also performance related, was due to concerns about risk. This was followed by requests to review their retirement plans. 1 Source: Financial Express, produced by Aegon.
